Mrs. Hendry's Class
Mrs. Hendry’s Newsletter October 9, 2017
The kids have really started getting into the swing of things at this point. Transitioning from one thing to another has gotten much smoother, making room for more fun and learning. The kids have enjoyed talking about apples the past week or so. We specifically have discussed the food that we eat from apples and what it takes to make an apple tree grow. Ask your student if they can think of something J
As mentioned in my previous newsletter, we will be talking about fall leaves next. Why they turn such pretty colors and why they fall from our trees this time of the year. I have some fun projects planned such as finding leaves outside and then using them to do a leaf rub experiment. The kids will get a chance to see how the leaf they picked out transfers onto paper and the details it leaves behind. We will also be doing some color mixing with paint. It’s always fun to see what colors we can make!
I have included counting, patterns and problem solving into my curriculum for the next 2 weeks. I am still taking a few kids aside during the day for evaluations, and will continue to do so for the rest of this week. Please make sure your student is getting practice at home with their letters and numbers. I am implementing lower case letters along with the capitals to make early writing an easier transition. We will build on this throughout the school year in hopes to make kindergarten great. Some of the ways we work on the alphabet in class are; Bingo, art, letter shopping , and music.
